Fountain Hills Community Theater is proud to announce the world premier of the new musical comedy Midsummer Dreamin’, a brand new musical adaptation based on William Shakespeare’s comedy ‘A Midsummer Night’s Dream’ but set in the early 1970’s and featuring top 40 hits of the era including ‘Crocodile Rock’, ‘The Lion Sleeps Tonight’ and ‘YMCA’ to name a few.
Midsummer Dreamin’ tells of the adventures of four young lovers, a group of amateur actors, and the fairies who inhabit a moonlit forest. When Mia, who is in love with Andy, is told she must marry Denny or face life in a convent or death, she and her friend Helen run away into the Forest of Arden. They are followed by their loves Denny and Andy. There, through the machinations of a rather stoned fairy named Puck and with the help of an ‘herbal concoction’ that Puck and his king Oberon create, they fall in and out of love with each other with hilarious results. Meanwhile, a group of workman turned actors, of questionable talents, come under the spell of the Queen of the Fairies, Titania. The Queen, once again with the help of the ‘herbal remedy’, falls helplessly in love with one of the performers.
Fountain Hills Community Theater has always been dedicated to presenting new works. In the past FHCT has premiered many new works including ‘The Three Musketeers’, ‘The Vanishing of Anna’, ‘Mumblety-Peg’ and ‘Moby Dick’. The theater is proud to present the world premier of this new musical by Artistic Director, Peter J. Hill.

FOUNTAIN HILLS COMMUNITY THEATER IS PROUD TO ANNOUNCE
THE ADDITION OF ‘GIVE WHAT YOU CAN NIGHT’ AT THE THEATER
WHAT: GIVE WHAT YOU CAN NIGHT

WHERE: Fountain Hills Community Theater 11445 N Saguaro Blvd., Fountain Hills, AZ 85268
HOW: No reservations required. Seating on a first-come, first-served basis. Lobby opens one hour prior to performance, seating begins 30 minutes prior to curtain.

Fountain Hills Community Theater is proud to announce the addition of ‘Give What You Can’ nights at the theater. Recognizing the difficult economic times the valley is facing, Fountain Hills Community Theater has chosen to offer a ‘give what you can afford’ performance. The theater has scheduled one additional matinee performance during the run of its upcoming production of “The Sound of Music” to audience members who might be stretching their dollars, but would enjoy attending a performance at the theater.
Artistic Director Peter J. Hill says: “We know things are tough financially, and everyone is making sacrifices. At the theater we feel it is important that people should not be required to cut the arts from their lives.”
Everyone involved in the productions, from actors to musicians to crew, is offering their services and talents for free to make this special performance possible.
Hill said: “It is a pay what you can afford night. If an audience member can afford nothing, they can join us for free and we will be delighted to have them. Of course, if someone can afford $200.00 and values what we’re doing, I’m kinda hopin’ they might join us too! We’re just relying on the community itself not to abuse the situation and allow those who would most benefit from these tickets to have them.”
Hill expressed his deepest thanks to the faithful Fountain Hills Season Ticket holders and Single Ticket patrons for continuing to support the theater and making this kind of generosity possible.
The first ‘Give What You Can’ performance will be a matinee of The Sound of Music on Saturday, Sept. 26th at 2:00pm. Seating is limited and advance reservations are required – pay “what you can afford” at the door.
The Sound of Music will play Sept. 18 through Oct. 4, 2009. Performances are Thursdays, Friday and Saturdays at 8:00 P.M. and Sunday at 2:00 P.M.
