Last day for entries is midnight October 28 th, 2011. All entries should include a cover letter with the author’s name, address, phone number and e-mail address along with a short biography about the author. Mail in submissions will not be
returned without a Self Addressed Stamped Envelope. Internet submissions that are not chosen will be deleted. Decisions will be made by FHYT Artistic Director Ross Collins and winners will notified by E-mail by November 12, 2011.

Finally! A Chance For Your Voice To Be Heard!
DEADLINE EXTENDED TO DECEMBER 1st
Fountain Hills Youth Theater is looking for students ages 12 to 21 who want to try their wings as writers for the stage to submit entries for a writing contest! We will be looking for six short scenes plus additional works of prose or poetry written on the subject of drug abuse and awareness to be produced and presented in the Youth Theater’s production; Chapters: a Primer for Drug Awareness this year's “YABOY” (Young Actors Benefiting Other Youth) production.
These works will cover the scope of how drug abuse:
Affects home life
Affects personal relationships
Affects the individual
Short scene entries must:
Play in 10 to 15 minutes.
Have a clear cut conflict and resolution.
Be written in either play or screenplay format.
Require minimal settings.
Require a cast of 10 characters or less.
*Essay entries should not exceed two pages.
*Prose or poetry entries can be as little as one sentence
(if that’s all you need to tell your story,) but are not to exceed one page.
All entries should be double spaced, with at least one inch top, bottom, and side margins, and 12-14 point standard fonts.
All entries must be general to PG audience friendly.
Selected entries will be “work shopped” with the authors for final editing to finally be produced and presented in the Fountain Hills Youth Theater’s production; “Chapters: a Primer for Drug Awareness” by Fountain Hills Youth Theater as part of its “YABOY” (Young Actors Benefiting Other Youth) production.
While the individual works shall remain the property of the authors, exclusive rights are granted for their use for one year by Fountain Hills Youth Theater and Ross Collins for use in the “Chapters: a Primer for Drug Awareness”. While ownership after one year reverts to the authors the right to continue free use of the work by the general public will be retained by “Chapters: A Primer for Drug Awareness”
